SEED EXCHANGE GRAINOTHEQUE: GENEVA | |||||||
A seed library, grainothèque, is a seed exchange system where anyone can deposit, take or exchange seeds, freely and without charge. Like other seed libraries, the one in Saint-Jean, named "1203 Graines", contributes to demonstrate that gardeners - amateurs or professionals - can collect and exchange seeds and free themselves from standardized seeds. It allows people to discover and taste non commercialized varieties. It is also a way to develop biodiversity in urban areas, to facilitate meetings between gardeners and to transmit know-how.
The library is full of valuable documents providing advice and practical information about growing seeds and plants, for children and adults. The Grain Library also answers your questions during its meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, and by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Everyone can freely use seeds or deposit seeds during the opening hours of the Saint Jean Library. This is subject to respecting the Grainothèque Charter and to taking note of the Grainothèque User Guide. Follow us on Instagram!
