Rolle open air Cinéma copie copy

Back in 2015, Rolle Openair Cinema was under a different format. Now, 5 years later, the organizers, RollEvents Association, in collaboration with the cultural department of Rolle and Raiffeisen, have decided to come back with the second annual free admission concept.

With new social distancing measures in place, a limited number of lawn chairs will be available for rent, and a maximum of 300 people in the viewing zone. Free tickets may be reserved through the website. It is recommended to come at least 45 minutes prior to the movie start time as the seats are not numbered.

The original version movies (VO) will be subtitled (9 in English). The French movies will not have English subtitles. Note: There is no film on 1 August as this is the Swiss National Holiday and other events will take place around the country. In case of bad weather, the show will be cancelled.

The English language movies in Original Version will be:

  • Saturday, 25 July: Rocketman
  • Monday, 27 July: Billy Elliot
  • Friday, 31 July: The Blues Brothers
  • Thursday, 6 August: Mamma Mia! 2
  • Saturday, 8 August: A Star is Born

Family, families, traditional or new, are on the program of the 48th edition of Visions du Réel, Festival International de Cinéma Nyon, from 21-29 April 2017. Among the documentary films selected, a theme stands out: the notion of family, in particular, “new families.” The result of a show of solidarity bringing strength and hope, these arise when we are faced with a challenge, a change in environment or place, or a crisis. A total of 179 films from 55 countries, including 105 world premieres and 25 international premieres, will take the audience on a journey. Swiss film will also be honored with no fewer than 36 films selected.

Luciano Barisone has traveled the world with his selection committee and is now just a month away from the seventh edition of the Festival. For his final outing as Artistic Director, he offers festival-goers a snapshot of the state of the world, a “face of the world.” What guided him in the selection? A rather unusual leitmotiv: “Love for humanity and for the world inspired every single step that you will be able to follow in this edition of Visions du Réel”, he says.

New families
When confronted by a challenge or difficulty, a united community, strengthened by a feeling of belonging, forms or consolidates naturally — enabling beings to survive, to support each other and to cope. This is family and, by extension, the “new family.”

Love is one of the main themes of the 2014 Visions du Réel International Film Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, to be held from 25 April through 3 May 2014.  Now in its 45th year, and for the 20th time entitled "Visions du Réel", the Festival has reached new highs: more than 3,500 films screened in Nyon or in other festivals worldwide have been narrowed down to a final 175 chosen from 51 countries. To make things easier for festival-goers, a new Visions du Réel smartphone application can also be downloaded for free.

The love theme was not chosen in advance by Festival programmers, but emerged naturally once all the films were viewed and selected by the committee. "To reduce over 3,500 films to 116 in the competition (50 feature-length, 26 mid-length and 40 short films), we have strict selection criteria, ranging from high artistic standards to having an ethical outlook on the world," Luciano Barisone, Festival director, explains. To continue to be a global platform for launching new films, exclusivity is also a crucial criterion for Visions du Réel. As well as a record 116 films in competition, there will be 59 films presented outside the competition.
