Exclusive screening of Green Room marks the official opening of the Horror Movie Club on 22 April 2016!
A new club, the first of its kind in Suisse Romand, has just been launched for horror movie fans in Geneva.
Called the Horror Movie Club, the association will provide monthly screenings of horror films at the newly-opened Cinérama Empire in Geneva. Launched with the support of local media specialist, Daily Movies, the new club will feature all genres of horror movies including “épouvante-horreur, gore, Sci Fi, and fantastique”, in their original versions with French subtitles.
Created by a team of passionate horror movie enthusiasts, the new club aims to shatter the traditional image of poor quality horror films and show the public just how powerful and entertaining high quality horror films can be. The Horror Movie Club promises quality programming, screening classic films that have never been seen before in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.
Carlos Mühlig, a representative from the movie club, told knowitall.ch, “Horror movies have received such bad press in the past – indeed many cinemas will deliberately avoid showing them! However, recent improvements in film technology have led to a new generation of horror movies that are so realistic that they are simply impossible to resist – at least by horror movie fans!”
Given the incredible special effects that can now be achieved on horror films, then it comes as no surprise that the Cinérama Empire has been chosen to launch the club. Situated on the rue de Carouge, the new cinema is the only one in Geneva to be fitted with the very latest, ultra high resolution 4K digital projector, and is therefore perfect for screening the scariest scenes on its giant curved panoramic screen!
To mark the opening of the new club, there will be a special “avant-première” screening of Green Room at the Cinérama Empire on Friday 22 April at 23h15. Directed by Jeremy Saulnier and featuring Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Patrick Stewart, this high adrenaline film follows the story of a young group of punk rockers as they cross paths with a particularly violent bunch of skinheads. This is definitely not a film for the faint-hearted!
If you can’t make the opening film, then the following films will be shown by the Horror Movie Club in 2016. There will be no screenings in August, December and January.
