Imagine Waking Up Tomorrow And All Music Has Disappeared
VO English; ST French
19 April 7pm, Théâtre de Marens; 20 April 10am, Salle Communale
Freedom of expression and the emergence of exceptional women are the two main themes of the 46th edition of Visions du Reel, the world-renowned international film festival of Nyon being held this year between 17 and 25 April 2015.
Visions du Réel is one of the most important festivals in the world in the documentary field. Founded in 1969, the festival draws a large audience of documentary film enthusiasts and professionals : last spring there were 33 000 attendees in Nyon.
166 films from 54 countries have been selected for this year’s festival, 83 of which will be presented as world premières and 30 as international premières. At the heart of Visions du Réel’s 2015 program are several portraits of exceptional women. Women are also behind the camera, representing 40% of the 160 filmmakers selected.
God Save Justin Trudeau: VO French, English; ST English, French
16 April 8pm, Festival Avant-Première | Théâtre de Marens (free admission)
18 April 5.30pm, Théâtre de Grand-Champ, Gland
Several English-speaking films will be screened throughout the 9 days of the festival. Of particular note are: Imagine Waking Up Tomorrow And All Music Has Disappeared, which provides an interesting insight into a world without music; God Save Justin Trudeau, offering an amusing take on the Canadian political context; and, finally, Austin to Boston, where viewers are taken on a musical ride throughout the United States. The first screening of each of these events will be held in the presence of the filmmaker.
The link between the festival and Doc Outlook-International Market (DOCM) is a major asset of Visions du Réel. Through a series of workshops and film-related events, the DOCM conference supports and promotes film projects at the different stages of production, from development to distribution. Thanks to the excellent reputation of this conference, more and more professionals from the audiovisual sector are now attending Nyon. More than 1000 participants from about 50 countries took part in 2014. Click here for more information.
