A handy little app for the smart phone has just been launched that local air travelers should definitely take a look at.

Created as an iOS app for the iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone, Geneva Airport: The Unofficial Guide provides everything you need to know about Geneva Airport in the palm of you hand. There is also an Android version of the app, which can be downloaded by clicking here. With over 100 entries and 330+ photos, it includes essential information on airport access, car hire/rental, airlines, parking, airport shopping and much more - in short, everything you need to know to make travel through Geneva Airport as stress free as possible.

Amongst its many useful features you will find offline maps, dynamic updates, offline mode, search function, favorites and sorting by topic. If you have any questions not answered in the app, there is a comment function so you can contact the app's American author, Jeff Steiner, directly. There is also a web link to some 100+ questions related to Geneva Airport and personally answered by Jeff.

Asked why he decided to develop an app for Geneva Airport, Jeff told knowitall.ch, “I first used Geneva Airport in 2004, not long after moving to the region. Since then I have used the airport just about every year and during that time have taken so many notes that it seemed a waste not to collate all the information and make it accessible to the general public in a format that could be easily used."

He added, “I am the owner/webmaster of more than 45 web sites, mostly about airports. Since I was such a frequent user of Geneva Airport, it seemed obvious to me that I should combine the knowledge I have gained traveling through this airport with my web skills to create a site and an app that would prove useful to the local community."

Geneva Airport: The Unofficial Guide is also available for kindle and as an ebook.

If you browse through the app, you will find the following information:

  • Detailed airport access information – car, bus, train, taxi, coach & bike.
  • Information on Swiss and French driving.
  • Ski resorts - Switzerland & France.
  • Local hotels, including France.
  • In-depth description of the airport – arrivals, departures, parking, car hire/rental & baggage claim.
  • Step by step 'how to' for accessing the airport's free WiFi network.
  • Where to shop and save money.

Geneva Airport is served by 50+ airlines (including low cost carries) with flights to almost 200 destinations. Many flights are to European destinations but there is also service to North America, the Middle East and Asia.
