Christmas stamps
Every year, Swiss Post’s Christmas special stamps prove highly popular and Swiss Post's 2023 whimsical series including snow flakes will not disappoint.

If you take a closer look at a snowflake, you will find a unique star to admire. Snow crystals form in cold clouds, where water droplets join together with particles of dust to form a hexagon – a star. The designer dreamt up this ideal Christmas decoration on a winter walk in the forest: “I was watching how the snow crystals covered the fir trees, and I imagined deer, mice and rabbits running around, happily collecting snow crystals to decorate their own Christmas trees.” To balance out the coldness of the season, the Vaudois artist also chose warm and cosy elements for each of the five designs. A concept that won the vote of Swiss Post staff throughout Switzerland.

A set of 4 cards with 4 stamps of CHF 1.10/each is also available to purchase.

Confetti stamps

A party atmosphere on your envelopes! Whether for invitations or congratulations, these colourful special stamps lend themselves to creative stamping, putting a smile on the face of the person they’re addressed to even before they open their mail.

Whether in the middle of the carnival procession, at a wedding or on New Year’s Eve, when the confetti rains down, a celebration usually isn’t too far away.

The word confetti comes from the Italian “confetto”, or “confetti” in the plural. Roughly translated, it means sugar-coated treats. For example, gifts of sugar-glazed almonds – called “confetti” – are traditionally given in Italy to celebrate births or weddings. Like the relaxed mood at celebrations, the new special stamps make it a breeze to frank party invitations or congratulations.

As if thrown and landing randomly, the decorative confetti turns an everyday activity into a playful moment. Five decorative pieces of confetti combine to make up the new A Mail value, which will come into effect from 01.01.2024. Check below for details about the new tarifs.

100 years of Disney
Disney celebrates 100 years! Its world-famous characters have enchanted generations, making them laugh and sing. In its anniversary year, Disney is paying tribute to fans and creative artists who have made this dream possible over the past century. Who doesn’t know the original stars of Disney? Mickey and Minnie are among the most famous cartoon characters ever.

Since their first appearance in 1928 in the cartoon “Steamboat Willie”, the highly entertaining characters with round ears and colourful shoes have captured hearts all over the world, becoming icons of popular culture. For the creation of Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney received an Academy Award® in 1932 – marking the beginning of an unparalleled career.

But it all got off to a rather unspectacular start. Working with his brother Roy O. Disney in his uncle’s garage in Los Angeles, the talented artist produced short animated films. Soon afterwards, the two siblings went on to establish the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio on 16 October 1923 – now regarded as the day on which The Walt Disney Company was founded. In 1937, Disney used technical innovations to create “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, the first feature-length animated film.

Successful family classics followed, including “Dumbo” (1941), “Bambi” (1942), “Cinderella” (1950), “The Jungle Book” (1967), “The Little Mermaid” (1989) and “The Lion King” (1994). In this anniversary year, Disney and its fans are celebrating the much-loved characters and stories of the past 100 years. We’d like to add our own Happy Birthday!

Supplementing older stamps
To provide anyone who still has older stamps (85, 90, 100, 110, 130, 180), Swiss Post has issued three supplementary values. Their design is wonderfully simple. When the designer’s task is to symbolize the values of 5, 10 and 20 centimes, what could be more appropriate than depicting the relevant Swiss coins? Just put one of these to supplement your older stamps to reach the correct amount.

Remember that the confetti stamps could also be use in conjunction with older stamps to make up the difference.

To order your stamps, please go to the website below. Most post offices don't carry special stamps in stock.
