At Know-it-all passport® there aren’t many kids camps that escape our notice – we have virtually every type of activity covered in the book and on our website, so no matter what your child is into, you can be sure to find something that matches his/her needs.

However, it’s not every day that a camp makes up sit up and say, “Wow, this is something really special – can we sign up as well as the kids?!"

So when we first heard about Maddy Deigert’s series of Peak Results camps last year, we were sure they would be an immediate success – and they were!  Which is why she is back again this year with a whole new offering, likely to be fully booked within days of being announced! So if you’re interested, don’t delay in signing up!

This summer, Peak Results is offering 4 main camps for kids aged 5 to 17, that are sure to ignite your child’s creativity and curiosity, whilst allowing them to indulge their adventurous or entrepreneurial spirit.  In short, the camps combine creative and logical thinking, physical activity, imagination, hands-on building, a bit of science and math, adventure, some traditional camping activities, parent involvement and a whole lot of fun! While the camps are based in Gilly, the adventurous component of each of the activities will take place all over Switzerland.

Asked how she came to be involved setting up camps for kids, Maddy told us,

‘I have been working in education for over twenty years in a variety of different roles. I have founded my own school, headed up a school as Principal, and worked as a classroom teacher, an IT director, a PE teacher and now as a private tutor. Without question, my favorite passion has been teaching MATHS! I really love this subject and have found it very disheartening to see so many students detest the subject. It can be so much fun if it is presented in a creative and engaging way. Which is exactly what I strive to do, because I know from personal experience that you don’t have to give up one to get the other."

She continued, "Learning should be fun, and it should engage creative thinking. It should be in the real world and it should definitely not be in a box. The programs I offer are always outside of the box and they stem from the ideas that the kids give to me. Needless to say, I make sure that all of our learning is fun and that it is brought to life!"

Maddy’s creative partner in the program, Elizabeth Drew, was a fellow student at Harvard University and, like Maddy, has a wealth of experience working overseas in education.  Together they have created a very unique line of activities and content for the summer.

The four main programs being offered by Peak Results this summer are:

RESTAURANT IN A WEEK: July 4 - July 9
8 to 17 year olds
6 days, 1 overnight
Daily from 9h30 to 16h
1 Restaurant Night for Parents
Cost: 675 CHF
Course description:
When it comes to starting and/or running a restaurant, maths is everywhere! From putting together the budgets, adding up the bill, calculating sales tax, using ratios, converting temperatures to making measurements in recipes. Campers learn that food costs have a huge impact on profits. In light of this, they quickly learn how to shop smart so they can maximize their profits. In one short week they host a magical evening where they have chosen the theme, prepared the meal, served the guests (parents and friends) and tabulated the bills. The following day they calculate profit and loss and split the profit between them!

NEW RECRUITS: July 11 - July 16
10 to 17 year olds
6 days, 3 overnights
Daily from 9h30 to 16h
Cost: 775 CHF
Course description:
ATTTEENNNNTTTION! This summer and this summer only, Peak Results is looking for New Recruits. Do you think you have what it takes? We’re talking one week of merciless adventure, one week of cadet-like training- but with less pushups and more paintball. Throughout this week, push yourself to your limits testing your ability to survive in the wilderness, sneak through the forest and perform multiple missions successfully. We’ll keep you on your toes with overnights in bomb shelters and a camouflaged dome you’ll be assembling yourself. Join us this summer if you dare, and we promise that in light of our action-packed activities, fun will never be MIA.

PIRATES and PEG LEGS: July 18 - July 22
5 to 10 year olds

Ahoy Mates! Do you find yourself dreaming of peg-legs and parrots? Eyepatches and a vocabulary littered with ‘Arrs’? Well then, there’s nothing for it but to join us at Peak Result’s Pirates-In-Training Program this summer! You’ll experience a week packed with pirate-themed activities complete down to sword-fighting, pirate-ship sailing, unique training experiences, treasure maps and the respective treasure! With a captain and first mate elected every day by the crew and enough preparation that even Jack Sparrow himself could learn a thing or two, every minute of this camp is jam-packed to be nothing short of wond-ARR-ful. So what do you think? Are you ready to set sail?

Do you love a good mystery? Have you ever wondered how you would fare when faced with the challenges of your favorite heroes and heroines? What would you do if you were Sherlock Holmes? Would you have the to courage to face Voldemort, the intelligence to outsmart the Erudite or the intuition to make it out of the Hunger Games alive? Come find out at our week-long camp this summer, where you will be faced with the same sorts of dilemmas and riddles (only less life-threatening of course). This exciting new concept combines fantasy and reality, while brushing up on math subject content. The mother of 3 happy campers who attended Maddy’s camps last year, told knowitall.ch, “I have 3 daughters, aged 14, 12 and 7. Last year the girls learned a lot during camp in a fun way. During the restaurant and escape camp Maddy put in a lot math but in a way the children will always remember. Not from a book but learning through experiences. They also worked on being responsible, learnt how to present themselves and food, and discovered how to make profit whilst developing social skills.”

Another mother told us, “Maddy's imagination, energy and enthusiasm is magnetic. It connects and captures all the kids participating in her camps. Learning is effortless and so much fun. Curiosity is ignited and kids put their knowledge to the test in real life situations making learning relevant. Kids gain confidence in their abilities, thoroughly enjoy their week, and often retain most of what they learnt when term starts again and beyond! An academic camp that doesn’t feel like it.”

In addition to her Peak Results camps, Maddy offers tutoring services, preparing children for the 11+, 13+, SAT, ACT and IGCSE exams. She also offers lessons in swimming and springboard diving!  You can find out more about these activities and the summer 2016 camps at: www.peakresults.org
